From its missionary roots at the founding of Mission San Luis Rey (1769), to the discovery of alkaline-rich waters that lead to the Carlsbad Mineral Spa (founded in 1886), to the kick-back beach culture that rules it now, Carlsbad has been a place for gathering, relaxing and healing for many years. Today, vibrant Carlsbad is one of the largest cities in San Diego County.
Our Carlsbad hotels are nestled on the quiet Ocean Street, a residential road with the ocean at its west. Private houses and condominiums line the sidewalk-optional street where locals run, bike and stroll in full view of the crashing surf. Beach Terrace Inn is located at the West end of Carlsbad Village, a quaint, historic downtown core dating to the 1920s. Encompassing over 200 acres, the Village is full of antique shops, restaurants, live theater and art galleries; the Carlsbad Village area also boasts the home to the original Carlsbad Mineral Spa and over 30 restaurants and entertainment venues.
