A Holiday Cocktail Recipe by Campfire

Festive Libations Await in Carlsbad

When December arrives in Carlsbad Village, you'll find us breathing in the crisp beach air, taking in the holiday lights at Village Faire, catching a breathtaking sunset, and sipping on festive libations at our favorite dining spots

One favorite in particular is Campfire Restaurant, a New American restaurant known for its wood-fired fare, inventive cocktails, and s'mores dessert. While you can't go wrong with a Campfire visit any time of year, we can't help but love a December visit (thanks to their annual holiday cocktails!). These 12 cocktails are modeled after the 12 Days of Christmas, and if you can't make it over to try all twelve, here are our favorites.

The Drumming Drummer is a festive classic with a spiked twist on traditional hot cocoa: bourbon, milk chocolate, coconut, branca meant, and whipped cream. For those who prefer something a little lighter, we recommend the French Hen: tequila, sage, chamomile, grapefruit, and tonic. Spirit-forward cocktail lovers will rejoice with the Leaping Lord: rye whiskey, smoked rhubarbaro, vermouth, benedictine, and coffee bitters.

If you're feeling some sort of FOMO, Campfire's mixology team invites you to create one of their limited edition holiday classics at home, the Calling Bird. Grab your shaker and let's get to work!

Calling Bird
By Campfire Restaurant

1 oz. Gin (Your choice of Gin)
.5 oz. Mommenpop Blood Orange Vermouth
.5 oz. Sirene Lake Garda Amaro
.75 oz. Cranberry Syrup*
.75 oz. Lime
Splash Soda

*Cranberry Syrup (Yields 1 Quart)
500g Organic Cranberry Juice
500g White Granulated Sugar
Weigh our both cranberry and sugar. Add to mixing vessel. Mix thoroughly until sugar is fully dissolved.

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add all ingredients. Shake for at least 30 seconds. Pour over ice and add a sprig of mint and fresh cranberry to garnish. Enjoy!
